The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Djuric, has announced that Serbia and the United States of America will officially start a strategic dialogue, calling this a historic moment in the relations between the two countries.
According to Gjuric, the decision was made on Tuesday morning in Washington, while the first session of the strategic dialogue is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 17.
The Serbian minister said that, for the first time in history, relations between Serbia and the USA are rising to the level of strategic partnership.
“This means that the United States and the administration of President Donald Trump are sending a strong message not only to Serbia, our administration and people, but also to American institutions, that Serbia is perceived as a partner and a friendly country,” declared Gjuriq.
He described this development as one of the most important achievements of Serbian diplomacy in recent years.
“This is something we have worked for for many years. From a professional point of view, it is one of the most serious successes of our diplomats, as well as of the Government of Serbia and all those who have contributed to strengthening relations with the United States”, said the minister.
According to the Serbian authorities, the strategic dialogue is expected to create a new framework of cooperation between Belgrade and Washington in areas of common interest, aiming to deepen political, economic and security relations.
