Big attack on Kiev: The famous monastery is burning

According to foreign correspondents, it was a large-scale attack, the correspondent of the German agency DPA stated that almost twenty explosions were heard in the city center.

So far, the authorities are talking about four dead. The number of injured has so far climbed to more than two dozen, but they will certainly continue to change.

Mayor of Kyiv Vitalij Klitschko said that approximately 140,000 people in the northern part of the city are without electricity as a result of the attacks.

A fire broke out in the Kyiv Monastery of the Holy Sepulcher after a direct hit.

The Orthodox monastery, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, was already damaged this year during the January attack. At that time, two buildings were damaged.

“For the first time since the Second World War, the object of the Kyiv Cave Lavra has been hit as a result of war actions. Every time Moscow is behind it: it was the case in 1918, it was the case in 1941, when the Dormition Cathedral was blown up on Moscow’s orders, and now drones and rockets are flying to Kiev on Moscow’s orders,” the ČTK agency recalls the words of director Maksym Ostapenko at the time.

Russia already attacked Kharkiv during Sunday and then later at night. There, five rescuers lost their lives and another five were injured, Ukrainian Minister of the Interior Ihor Klymenko said.
