Analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu said that the only hope for the four former KLA leaders convicted by the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo in The Hague remains the Appeal process and then, if necessary, the Supreme Court before the Specialized Chambers.
“The only hope of those convicted in The Hague remains the Court of Appeal and then the Supreme Court next to the Special Court. I believe that the whole battle should be focused in this direction, regarding the fate of the four former leaders of the KLA”, he said.
Spahiu said that the Special Court itself has emphasized in its decision that it is not judging the KLA’s fight for the liberation of Kosovo and that the charges of crimes against humanity have been dismissed.
“The court has said that the trial of the KLA for the liberation of Kosovo is not condemned here and it has been acquitted of the charges of crimes against humanity. The protests in Kosovo are being seen as interference with justice. The most important thing is that the court has rejected the charges of crimes against humanity and that the KLA’s goal of independence is not judged here,” he said.
