The Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi, through a note on social networks, has remembered the 27th anniversary of NATO’s intervention in Kosovo, describing it as a historical moment not only for the Albanian nation, but also for the conscience of the democratic world.
“27 years ago, NATO’s intervention in Kosovo marked an act of determination to stop a humanitarian tragedy and protect human dignity in the face of a regime that had chosen violence and destruction.,” writes Nufi.
He emphasizes that for the Albanian factor in the region, this intervention was much more than a military operation; it was a historic turning point that confirmed the right to live freely and in peace.
According to him, Kosovo and its democratic institutions are today the strongest guarantee that the decision taken 27 years ago was the right one, while its commitment to grow alongside its allies makes it deserve its place in the Euro-Atlantic architecture.
Nufi underlines that this event remains a powerful reminder that peace is not a given, but requires continuous commitment. He adds that NATO continues to be the biggest guarantor of security and stability, not only in the Balkans, but around the world, protecting the values of freedom, dignity and justice.
“Albania remains steadfast in its commitment to the Alliance. Our contribution to peacekeeping missions and collective defense is a clear expression of this commitment and our belief that security is a shared responsibility.“, the Minister of Defense emphasizes.
In conclusion, he appeals for unity and solidarity, stressing that only united can it be guaranteed that such tragedies to life, peace and Western values will never happen again.
