You are so fat and ugly, the father shouted at his daughter. She developed anorexia

An appalling case of violence in the family culminated in the man taking knives and threatening to kill the daughter and her mother. He shouted at the fact that he would calmly serve his sentence for killing both women. But when he actually received a prison sentence in court, he began to complain that maybe a condition would do it.

For abusing a trusted person and making dangerous threats, the man was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, and he has to pay his daughter 200 thousand crowns in compensation. Fairpress has the verdict of the Brno Regional Court from the turn of the year, which confirmed the sentence.

The abuse lasted at least from 2012 until the end of 2023. Almost every day, the daughter had to endure insults, ridicule, condemnations and curses. “The defendant verbally attacked the daughter that she was a prostitute, a…, a disgusting p…, a monstrous face, that she was so fat and ugly that she couldn’t even be a…,” described the indictment.

He did not call his daughter by name, but exclusively vulgar expressions. It is not surprising that the girl developed serious psychological problems, including anorexia.

Taking care of his son is to blame

Although the man pleaded guilty, he refused a prison sentence, saying that the court of first instance ignored a significant mitigating circumstance testifying to his orderly life and responsibility, namely that he takes care of a son with autism. It is said that there was a conflict environment in the family caused by emotionally tense situations arising during the care of the now eleven-year-old boy. It is not without interest that the man did not work properly anywhere and was supported by his brothers and his girlfriend.

As pointed out by the Brno Regional Court of Appeal, the boy’s upbringing, when he was isolated from his sister and mother, cannot be described as praiseworthy. In addition, the boy had to watch his father’s rampage. In addition, apart from the father’s claim, no evidence was presented about autism.

“If this is supposed to be a father’s loving care, which the son will now be deprived of during his sentence, then on the contrary it can only help the son to find his way back to his mother and sister and have the opportunity to have a different pattern of behavior towards those closest to him, than just the ‘fatherly’ one for which the defendant is ultimately tried,” Judge Mária Petrovková dismissed the objections.

He did not regret, he did not apologize

Regarding the man’s behavior itself, the appeals panel recalled that the father did not express any remorse for his behavior, let alone an apology or self-reflection. “The time for which his actions lasted is enormously long, and despite the repeated requests of the victims to stop, on the contrary, he escalated his abusive behavior to physical assault,” said Petrovková.

“At the same time, the daughter had already had symptoms of anorexia for several years, which he could not help but notice, yet he did not stop humiliating and insulting her, i.e. reducing her human dignity. On the contrary, when he found out that she was undergoing psychological treatment, he still mocked her. In essence, he was only stopped by the fact that he was limited in personal freedom,” added the judge.

The man faced up to eight years, so according to the verdict, the sentence is definitely not disproportionately severe.
