The case was started by a marital quarrel. Witnesses called the emergency line at around 11:24 a.m., saying that the man had attacked his wife and that he ran over her with a car.
When the policemen arrived at the scene in a few minutes, the situation escalated even more. The man did not want to hand over his Mercedes and tried to drive away with the car. The policemen stopped him, but at that moment a crowd of relatives arrived at the scene and tried to thwart the intervention of the policemen and their investigation.
According to the newspaper Bild, there were four dozen people who were on the side of the suspicious man and a commotion broke out, where blows and curses were not missing. The police had to call for reinforcements and only with their help was it possible to bring the enraged crowd under control.
The man was arrested and taken to the station. His Mercedes was towed and the forensics team is now examining the vehicle.
The police did not say whether the woman was injured and what nationality the relatives of the suspect man were.
