“Will you make the sacred Strait of Hormuz dangerous? We from Iran will turn the whole region into hell for you,” threatened General Mousavi, who commands the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Air Force, on Thursday, according to the WANA website.
Mousavi’s statement, according to the portal, is related to the recent American strikes on Iran and also to the announcement by the central command of the Iranian army, Chatam al-Anbi, that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all ships. “All vessels that try to pass through will be the target of attacks,” the Iranian command threatened.
However, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) denied the closure of the strategic strait. “Merchant ships continue to pass through Hormuz,” the Americans claim. However, Iran disputed this claim.
US President Donald Trump also added a threat to the tense situation around Iran on Thursday.
“The US military will attack Iran ‘very hard’ tonight. It will soon take control of the key points of the country’s oil infrastructure,” Trump said in the afternoon. He also announced on his social network Truth Social that American forces will occupy the Iranian island of Charg, the oil heart of the Islamic Republic, through which 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports are made.
After a few tens of minutes, Trump moderated his statements: “I would prefer not to send anyone there, but if I wanted to, we could send a small group of soldiers there and occupy the whole place.”
The president also mentioned on the Fox News television program that American forces dropped bombs worth over 250 million dollars (5.2 billion CZK) on targets in Iran on Wednesday alone.
