We shot down an American fighter, claims Iran

Images published by Iranian media apparently show the wreckage of an American F-15E fighter jet, not an F-35. The United States has not yet commented on the incident.

It is not the first time that American planes have had a problem over Iran. Last month, an F-35 had to make an emergency landing at a base in the Middle East after apparently being hit by Iranian fire. The pilot’s condition was then stabilized.

F-35 machines, which can cost up to 100 million dollars (over 2.1 billion crowns), are available to both the USA and Israel.

The United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran on February 28, sparking a regional conflict. In retaliation, Tehran and its allies began using drones, ballistic missiles and rockets to attack not only Israel and American military facilities in the Middle East, but also civilian targets, including oil infrastructure in the surrounding Arab countries.

Iran also blocks the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil production and about a third of liquefied natural gas (LNG) normally pass, which increases oil prices on international markets.
