The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has requested that the European Union remove the measures imposed on Kosovo since June 2023.
Osmani made this request in the meeting with the German chief diplomat, Johann Wadephul, saying that the lifting of the measures is necessary.
“The removal as soon as possible and as soon as possible of the unfair measures of the EU towards Kosovo, which are in force from June 2023 and have a very negative impact on the lives of our citizens, is a necessary emergency, for which we hope for the support of Germany”. Osmani stated.
She noted that Kosovo remains committed to good neighborliness, but also to an equal and fair dialogue facilitated by the European Union.
“As long as Kosovo remains under the measures of the EU itself, even the dialogue mediated by the EU cannot be considered balanced, principled or equal“, Osmani said while adding that Germany remains a historical ally as he emphasized that Kosovo is oriented towards membership in NATO, the EU and the Council of Europe.
“Kosovo remains committed to its strategic orientation, membership in NATO, the EU, the Council of Europe and any international organization that strengthens the international position of our country, because as a state we have always protected the values on which these organizations were built and function. In all these international mechanisms we intend to enter as a contributor, not as a burden. In this journey, Kosovo needs the determined support of Germany, therefore the removal as soon as possible and as soon as possible of the unfair measures of the EU against Kosovo, which are in force from June 2023 and have a very negative impact on the lives of our citizens, is a necessary emergency, for which we hope in the support of Germany“, Osmani declared.
