In total, during the weekend, rescue workers in the region went to almost two dozen injuries associated with garden work.
“Among those injured in this way were also two boys of younger school age who injured themselves with electric garden shears. After treatment, both of them were handed over to paramedics in fall accident clinics for further care,” said Humpl.
In both cases, there was a partial separation of the finger joints. The cases happened independently of each other. “One accident happened in Karvinsko, the other in Frýdecko-Místek,” specified Humpl.
The rescuers also knew during other interventions that the sunny weather beckoned for spring work. They were called to, for example, three cases of falls from a height while trimming tree branches.
Another serious injury was burns to the face of a middle-aged man in Frýdecko-Místek during the burning of branches. After providing the necessary care, he was transported to the burn center at the Ostrava University Hospital.
“The paramedics also had to provide medical care to a man with an injury in the torso area in Novojičínsk, who fell on the edge of the concrete while digging,” added Humpl.
