Several massive explosions were heard at night in Sumy, a town of a quarter of a million people. RBK Ukraine reports on its Telegram channel, citing authorities in the region, that Russia attacked the city with drones and hit a residential area.
The Russian army attacks the Sumy region every day, at least 12 people lost their lives in an air raid on the border town of Hluchiv at the beginning of the week.
The Ukrainian Air Force warned on Friday morning that Russia had sent attack drones, for example, over the Cherkasy region in central Ukraine, the Khmelnytsky region in the southwest of the country, or the Zhytomyr region west of Kyiv.
The head of the military administration of the Dnepropetrovsk region, Serhij Lysak, said that a Russian drone attacked the city of Nikopol at night. No one was hurt and information about the damage is being clarified.
According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian army struck the Dnipro in this region on Thursday with the latest medium-range ballistic missile equipped with a non-nuclear warhead. Ukrainian officials previously stated that Russia used an intercontinental ballistic missile.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported in the morning that air defense shot down a total of 23 Ukrainian drones over three areas. Twelve were neutralized over the Bryansk region, nine over the Kaluga region and two over the Kursk region, writes the Russian-language BBC service.
