The bus crashed into a bus stop on Valhallavägen street in the Östermalm district in central Stockholm.

The place of the accident is located near the metro station Tekniska Högskolan. According to Aftonbladet sources, the bus was carrying no passengers at the time of the accident. According to the letter, the information so far indicates that it was only an accident.

“We do not believe it was intentional. The information that has come to light does not contain anything that would indicate otherwise,” said police official Daniel Wikdahl.

The bus driver, who literally rolled over the stop, was arrested, the Swedish police confirmed, adding that the incident is being investigated as a homicide with aggravating circumstances. The Expressen newspaper said it was shocked and devastated by what happened.

There were speculations that an illness was behind his actions, but the police did not want to comment on that.

There are a large number of police officers, ambulances and paramedics in Valhallavägen street. There is chaos in the place, Aftonbladet reported. The newspaper Expressen reported that there are three dead and five injured, two of them seriously. But the Stockholm police did not want to confirm or deny this information.

The spokeswoman of the Swedish transport company SL Sophie Gunnarsson said that it is bus number 676, which is operated by Transdev. Her spokesperson Stefan Johansson confirmed the incident. But he was talking about an accident, not an intention.

“It happened during rush hour. There are a lot of people at the scene,” Davila said. According to him, ambulances took several injured people to nearby hospitals.

“There are so many police cars and more are coming. The street towards the subway is blocked,” said one of the witnesses to the incident.
