Trade between Serbia and Italy exceeded 5 billion euros

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the bilateral trade volume between Italy and his country has passed 5 billion euros, and they want to increase it more.

The Serbian-Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Serbian and Italian business people attended the Serbian-Italian Business Forum in the capital Belgrade.

Vucic, who made a statement to journalists, said that they aim to increase the trade with Italy significantly.

Vucic stated that Italy is one of the places that have the most bilateral trade volume in its country and continued:

“The foreign trade volume with Italy has exceeded 5 billion euros. Serbia is one -third of its trade in the western Balkans. 1200 Italian companies operating in Serbia provide employment to 24 thousand people. Thank you for its support for its membership.

Tajani said that his country has good relations with Serbia and that this was strongly felt in the field of economy.

Tajani stated that one of the countries that support the EU membership process of Serbia, which they see as a major partner in the field of trade, is Italy, “The existence of Italian companies in Serbia is not only an economic message, but also an indication of a friendship that has been going on for centuries.” He said.

Tajani said that the Balkans are one of the priority regions in their foreign policies and said that they strongly support the region’s integration into the EU.
