“They tell the American side that now there are new conditions. That in two months they will conquer the east of our country, they will conquer the Donbas. And that is why Ukraine has two months to withdraw. And then the war will end. And if Ukraine does not withdraw, then Russia will conquer the Donbas and then there will be other conditions. The logical question is – if their goal is only the Donbas, why do they say that they will go further if they succeed in conquering the Donbas? This means that the problem is not in the Donbas,” said Zelenskyy agency Unian.
According to the Ukrainian president, in reality, Russia will no longer be able to achieve this in practice, and Moscow understands this. However, according to him, they continue to try to pressure the United States to force Washington to make concessions towards Ukraine.
“I believe that today Russia is putting pressure on America. Because the elections are coming up. It is clear that the US must take other steps both in domestic and foreign policy. We really hope that we will return logic, not emotionality, to Russia on the negotiating track,” said the Ukrainian president. According to him, Ukraine is ready to compromise in the form of stopping the fighting and freezing the conflict on the current front line, which Russia refuses.
Representatives of Ukraine and the United States are scheduled to meet on Wednesday via video call. “I will join – they asked me to. I talked about it last night with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. We agreed that he, I, (US envoy Stever) Witkoff, (the president’s son-in-law Jared) Kushner, (Senator) Lindsey Graham and some others will be there. We will talk about where we are. And how close we are to trilateral agreements, at least to a trilateral meeting,” the Ukrainian president described.
