The water in the east of the Czech Republic is rising, the rivers are reporting the first flood stages

As early as Monday morning, they could ride the bike path crossing Zlín along the Dřevnice river without restrictions. However, the rising river level will probably flood some parts of the trail within a few hours.

“There are two places in the city center, one is a bicycle underpass under the bridge near the Letná football stadium and the second place is a similar underpass near another bridge near the Čepkov shopping center. We are monitoring both places,” Deputy Chief of the Municipal Police in Zlín, Pavel Janík, told Novinka.

According to him, people should now drive through both underpasses with great caution. “If the water level continues to rise, we will close both bicycle underpasses. We expect that. And in the event of a higher level, the technical service will dismantle the railings bordering the bicycle path with the river, so that it is not damaged,” added Janík.

In some places, the streams have already reached the first flood stage, the so-called alert point, especially in Wallachia. Water managers report a degree of vigilance at the outflow from the dam near Horní Bečva and near Karolinka. Then there is the first flood level at the tributaries to the Bystřička dam and to the water reservoir in Luhačovice.

In Slovácko, water managers have been reporting the first flood stage on the Olšava river in Uherské Brod since Monday morning.

In a number of places, smaller streams have already reached the meadows from their beds, one of them is the Chrastěšovský stream on Vizovicka.
