The war against Iran is almost over, Trump announced

“I think the war is basically over,” said the US president. “Iran has no navy, no means of communication, no air force. Their missiles are in ruins. Their drones are blown up, including their manufacturing plants,” he added, according to CBS.

She recalled that the US military stated that during the first week of the conflict, it hit over three thousand Iranian targets. “Look, they have nothing left. They have nothing left from a military point of view,” Trump said.

He added that he originally estimated that the war would last about a month. “We are well ahead,” he told the station, which reported that Trump made the remarks on a day when the US Department of Defense said the US was “just beginning to fight”. He supplemented the post on the X network with a picture with the words “no mercy”.

When asked if Trump thinks the war could end soon, CBS said that “the end of the war is only in my head and not in anyone else’s head.”

At the subsequent press conference, according to ČTK, Trump defended the attack against Iran, saying that if the United States did not find the courage to do so, Tehran would acquire atomic weapons. Iran has repeatedly claimed in the past that its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes.

“It will end soon, and if it starts again, they will be hit even harder,” AFP quoted Trump as saying.

At the beginning of the press conference, Trump repeated that the United States is fulfilling its war goals much faster than the plan predicted. “51 Iranian ships were destroyed,” he said. He also stated that Iranian drone factories are now facing attacks and that there has been an 83 percent drop in Iranian drone launches.

Trump also stated that Iran wanted to continue developing nuclear weapons. “We were lucky that we found the courage (to attack), otherwise they would have gotten a nuclear bomb,” said the US president.

He commented on oil

Trump devoted part of the conference to the issue of oil. One of the most critical places in the world for transporting oil is the Strait of Hormuz, which is a strait along the coast of Iran, through which about a fifth of global oil supplies pass. The war practically blocked this key sea route.

Trump indicated that the US Navy could escort the tankers through the strait. He also noted that the US will lift some oil sanctions to ensure sufficient supply of this energy raw material.

Trump also spoke about the incident when a girls’ school near the base of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards was hit in Iran. At the weekend, Trump said that Iran was probably responsible for the incident, but evidence is mounting that the school was probably hit during the American bombing of a nearby base.

On Monday, he said that the American missile with a flat flight path Tomahawk, which hit the school according to the analysis of the Bellingcat group, is used by many countries.
