The aforementioned bridge was part of a transport corridor for the transfer of military material and resources in two key directions: from Russian territory to Crimea, to support the Russian army in the south of the front, and on the Crimean Peninsula, where the transported material participated in the functioning of the Russian military infrastructure. According to the army, the drone attack destroyed the railway track on the bridge and caused the collapse of one of the beams.
Since the beginning of the month, Ukraine has started implementing its plan to isolate the annexed peninsula. The drone campaign disrupted Russian military logistics and stopped the supply of fuel and ammunition.
As a result of the Ukrainian strikes, Crimea fell into an energy and transport crisis. Residents there have had to stand in lines in shops for several weeks and face power outages and drinking water supplies. As of the weekend, gasoline and diesel are only available to “state” customers, i.e. security and rescue services.
