According to the portal Odkryto.cz, the perpetrators fled to Slovakia after the attack, where a search is also underway.
The Slovak police did not provide details, but described that the local corps was “maximum cooperative” with the Czech colleagues from the first moment. “All the necessary police units, specialized units, including the anti-terrorist headquarters, are deployed, and they are making every effort to contribute to clarifying this act,” Zuzana Hrabovská, spokeswoman for the Presidium of the SR Police Force, told Noviny.sk.
The Slovak police does not comment on whether the suspects include citizens of Slovakia, or whether there is a search for specific perpetrators on its territory.
According to information from the Czech side, the fire broke out on Friday in the premises of the LPP Holding company in the Pardubice industrial zone, the production hall and the administrative building were affected. Criminal investigators are investigating the case as a possible terrorist attack on a strategic enterprise.
Four versions
The Czech police assessed the fire as a suspected terrorist attack. It works with four versions of the origin of the fire, in all cases with the assumption of intentional action. Regional criminal investigators, specialists from the Criminal Investigation Institute, pyrotechnicians, anti-terrorist units and intelligence services were involved in the case.
The company LPP Holding estimates the damages at hundreds of millions of crowns. The warehouse and administrative facilities where, according to the company, there were no explosives or ready-made weapons were mainly affected. The company specializes in the production of optoelectronics and unmanned vehicles, which it supplies, among other things, to Ukraine.
Neither the Czech nor the Slovak police have yet officially released any details about the identity of the perpetrators, their movement or motive. Law enforcement authorities only state that the investigation is ongoing and that the inspection of the place will take several days. The security forces do not comment on the speculation that the perpetrators headed for Slovakia after the attack and are staying there.
Investigators work with various possible motives – from a terrorist or ideological background to economic interest and competition to possible intelligence games. So far, however, none of these lines has been officially designated as dominant.
