During the meeting with the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, the President of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen, the head of the Elysee Emanuel Macron and the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic announced that they discussed the fulfillment of obligations related to the EU membership process of his country, including reforms for the rule of law, electoral legislation and the implementation of recommendations from European institutions.
“It was an important meeting about the European future of Serbia, the European Union enlargement process and the steps we are taking within our reform agenda. I emphasized that Serbia will fulfill all the recommendations of the Venice Commission in accordance with European standards,” said Vucic.
The Serbian President emphasized that he expects the EU to present and improve the new enlargement methodology, which will further strengthen the European integration process of the candidate countries.
Earlier, addressing the media following the Tivat summit, Vucic also commented on the request of the Serbian Security Agency not to go to Montenegro and the decision of the Malagasy authorities to return to Belgrade about 90 Serbs who had arrived in the city where the meeting is held.
Regarding the latter, the Serbian president said that they were a group of activists who did nothing wrong and only carried banners.
