A few days ago, the man went to a wine shop in Ostrava-Zábřeh for alcohol. At the same time, he took pepper spray in his hand. “He approached the saleswoman and demanded alcohol. Even though the woman pointed out to him that the store was equipped with a camera system, he did not give up his desire for vodka and rum,” described police spokeswoman Eva Michalíková, adding that as soon as the man took possession of the bottles of alcohol under threat, he ran away from the wine shop.
Thanks to the description of the saleswoman and the camera system, the criminal investigators knew the description of the robber almost immediately. They started looking for him in the immediate vicinity, in buildings and other stores. In the end, he was discovered just a few hours after the assault in one of the apartments in the hostel.

“The man had prepared a legend for the criminalists, saying that he has problems with the police because of a doppelgänger who commits criminal activity, and the police keep confusing him with him. However, the detectives did not believe this and detained the man,” said the police spokeswoman.
The man was accused of robbery, for which he faces up to 10 years in prison. The judge imposed a bond on him. The robber is not unknown to the police, his criminal history includes seven records. He left the prison gates for the last time this spring.
“The accused confessed to everything. He stated that he sold alcohol in a pawn shop and bought food with the money he received. “Criminal officers actually secured the stolen bottles of alcohol in the pawn shop and returned them to the damaged company,” concluded Michalíková.
