“The crew from Blatná was the first to arrive at the site before the arrival of the other units of the IZS. The ambulance driver and the paramedic did not wait for anything and jumped into the water, where, according to information, two people were wedged in the car,” described the intervention of South Bohemian paramedics spokeswoman Petra Kafková. The other two young men managed to get out of the car to the shore.
Kafková further stated that the driver and the rescuer tried to free the two injured from the sunken wreck without any equipment. “They managed to do it with one of the young men,” said the spokeswoman for the rescuers.
A unit of firefighters immediately arrived at the scene and managed to pull out the second man wedged in the vehicle.
“Since both participants in the accident had a failure of vital functions and cardiac arrest, it was necessary to begin resuscitation immediately. It took place at the same time for both,” mentioned Kafková. Unfortunately, even the best efforts of the rescuers were in vain and the young man could not be revived. The young people who reached the shore before the arrival of the rescue services were taken to the hospital.
“Despite this, a big thank you goes to the interveners for the chance they gave the drowning man with their above-standard professional intervention,” says Kafková. The police are investigating the cause of the traffic accident. According to Novinek, four young men with their car drove only a few hundred meters before the crash.
