According to the test drives, the motorcycles arrive at the scene of the incident approximately four minutes earlier than the regular Škoda Kodiaq police cars.
“The accelerated arrival time of the motorcycle patrol is a very essential figure, for example for the provision of first aid in case of circulatory arrest, when the chance of saving the patient decreases by ten percent with every minute. The mentioned arrival time of the motorcycle patrol would be absolutely essential in the event of an active shooter, when the chances of survival of the affected persons decrease every second,” reads the material approved by the councilors on Monday, March 9.
The document further states that the parameter of using a motorcycle for the needs of the police is particularly important in the conditions of Prague with its intensive traffic load, which has an upward trend.
In the aforementioned pilot project, three motorcycles were purchased, which were modified for the needs of the PMJ’s first-line motorcycle patrols for specially trained members.
In two months, they drove eight thousand kilometers with their motorcycles. They completed 70 trips, helped to arrest nine criminals immediately after committing the crime. In total, police officers provided first aid ten times, in twelve cases they tracked down persons in a nationwide search and found eight lost cars.
