The police pacified a man with a long gun in Chomutov

“We want to assure the public that there is no danger to anyone at the moment. We thank the citizens for their cooperation and respecting the police officers’ instructions,” the police said on the X network.

According to the spokesperson of the rescue service, Prokop Voleník, no one was hurt. “Fortunately, we did not have to intervene. We had three crews on site, the head of crisis preparedness also arrived. We have given rules and procedures for these types of interventions, which we strictly follow,” he said.

People were not supposed to approach the intersection of Riegerova and Ruská streets. And residents from there were supposed to stay away from the windows.

“Shortly after six-thirty, we received a report on line 158 about the movement of a person with a long gun in the center of Chomutov. The person then headed to one of the houses in Riegrova Street. A police intervention is currently underway at the scene,” the police originally stated on the X network.

“We have five units on the scene,” said regional fire department spokeswoman Lucie Vyškrabková.
