Detectives arrested a man, a citizen of Slovakia, in the eastern Slovak village of Čakanovce, the Vienna police headquarters announced in a press release on Sunday, adding that the extradition procedure will be governed by the legal standards of the justice authorities.
According to the Austrian police, the arrested man is “strongly suspected” of the woman’s murder. The senior woman was found dead on September 4 in her garden house in the Viennese district of Floridsdorf.
She was lying in bed and had marks on her head from strong blows. Criminalists assumed from the beginning that her death was caused by someone else’s fault.
This was also confirmed by the autopsy, during which it was also revealed that the perpetrator sexually abused and beat the defenseless victim with an unspecified blunt object. DNA analysis helped to identify the suspect. According to the newspaper Kronen Zeitung, it is not known whether the detectives found the murder object.
Investigators have not yet determined the exact date of the senior’s death. The perpetrator broke into the garden house through the window. According to the victim’s relatives, the woman did not have any valuables at the scene of the murder.
