The ANO political movement was founded in 2012 Andrej Babišwho is the chairman of the party for the entire period of its political activity. The creation of ANO smoothly followed on from the civic association Action of Disgruntled Citizens. The movement strongly opposes corruption, criticizes the politics of the opposition and wins voters over the vision of a prosperous and economically stable state. ANO is therefore inextricably linked to the statement of entrepreneur Andrej Babiš that he wants to lead the state as a company.
Regional and senate elections 2024
In the regional elections, the movement won over 35% of the vote and won almost 300 mandates. It received the majority of votes in ten regions. Other political groups defeated ANO only in southern Bohemia, southern Moravia and Liberec.
The first and second governments of Andrej Babiš
In October 2017, ANO won the parliamentary elections with 29.64% of the vote. Due to the proportional electoral system, he received 78 mandates in the Chamber of Deputies out of a total of 200. Subsequently, Andrej Babiš unsuccessfully tried to form a cabinet in cooperation with the ČSSD, to whom he offered four ministerial posts. The unsuccessful formation of the government ended with a vote of no confidence in the Chamber of Deputies and on January 24, 2018 resigns government. Andrej Babiš ruled in resignation until June 27, when ANO became the second longest-reigning government of the Czech Republic in resignation.
The second government of Andrej Babiš in cooperation with the ČSSD, which received the required five ministerial seats, was formed on June 27, 2018. The prime minister was Andrej Babiš.
