The Hungarians apparently wanted to talk the Ukrainians out with truth serum, he ended up in the hospital

“The men were held for more than 24 hours, most of which was spent blindfolded and handcuffed, before being deported to Ukraine. During this time, one of the men – a former employee of the Ukrainian SBU security service – was given an injection,” writes The Guardian, citing Ukrainian security sources.

According to their opinion, it was probably the so-called “truth serum”, which refers to a substance (most often sodium thiopental) which aims to dull the resistance of the interrogated person and make him testify. “However, the substance allegedly led to a hypertensive crisis (a life-threatening increase in blood pressure) and loss of consciousness in a man who is diabetic. He was eventually taken to the hospital,” the newspaper described.

“Traces of the mentioned substance were discovered during blood tests performed after the men returned to Ukraine,” the letter quoted another of its sources as saying. The Hungarian lawyer of the detained persons, Lóránt Horváth, confirmed to the newspaper that “one person received an injection with an unknown content despite his objections”. An unnamed source from the Hungarian police then said that he had heard from his colleagues about the injection, but did not know what exactly it contained.
