The Hungarian delegation wanted to inspect the damaged oil pipeline in Ukraine, but they were not allowed to go anywhere

The head of the Hungarian delegation, Deputy Minister of Energy Gábor Czepek, before leaving Ukraine, expressed his belief that the Druzhba pipeline can be restarted.

“It’s a fact that they didn’t let us in there (to the damaged part of the Družba pipeline, editor’s note)that’s why I think that restarting the pipeline is possible,” said Czepek in a phone call with Prime Minister Orbán directly from Kyiv, which was published on the Prime Minister’s Facebook.

Budapest thus sticks to its theory that even though members of the Hungarian delegation did not see the damage to the oil pipeline, Orbán claims that Kyiv wants to blackmail Hungary by stopping oil supplies, thereby endangering energy security and using this pressure to install a “pro-Ukrainian” government in Budapest.

Parliamentary elections in Hungary will be held on April 12, 2026.
