Four moderately seriously injured in Pilsen

Three passenger cars crashed in southern Pilsen on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. According to preliminary information, the road in the area was heavily frozen. Police spokeswoman Barbora Šmaterová described that the 20-year-old driver of the Škoda Octavia started overtaking in a bend and collided with an oncoming Peugeot Partner. “This car was hit from behind by a car of the same brand, whose forty-eight-year-old driver was not able to react in time on the slippery surface,” she described.

The managing officer of the fire department, David Kváč, said that they rescued one person from the car. The spokeswoman of the regional ambulance, Andrea Divišová, specified that ambulances transported four adults who suffered moderate injuries to hospitals. Specifically, it was a 20-year-old Škoda driver, a passenger two years older than her, a 48-year-old Peugeot driver and an 18-year-old passenger from another Peugeot. All patients were conscious.

Near Všerub, which is on the main route from Pilsen to Karlovy Vary, another bus crashed. “Communication in the place is very slippery. We called the road crew because of the sprinkler,” informed fire department spokesman Petr Poncar about the event, which happened around 4:30 p.m. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The evacuation bus took only three people, the other 22 people and the driver remained in the original vehicle.

Kváč added that accidents due to the weather in the Pilsen Region are increasing. “There are currently five of them in Tachovsk, Rokycan and Pilsen alone,” he calculated around 8 p.m.
