The first storms have arrived. Hail is reported in Šumava

Thunderstorms arrived in the Czech Republic on Sunday evening after a record-warm day. So far, they have only occurred in the western half of Bohemia.

In some of them there was even more significant lightning activity and hail also appeared. Alice Juřicová also captured the hail during the storm in Hartmanice in Šumava.

“I’m envious, we in Moravia are dying,” people write under the post on Facebook. “I’m quietly jealous and I don’t care that it’s hail. The cold must be released,” states another.

Strong thunderstorms could occasionally occur in the west of Bohemia also during the night. The ČHMÚ warning is valid until two o’clock in the morning.

More significant storm activity is expected on Monday afternoon, when a warning for very strong storms is in effect in the whole of Bohemia, and strong storms could also appear in Moravia.
