The first iftar table in the Balkans is in Kırcaali

Sultangazi Municipality brings together our compatriots in the Balkans at the tables of love during Ramadan. The first iftar table was set up in Kardzhali, Bulgaria. Dozens of our compatriots came together at the heartfelt table.

Sultangazi Municipality did not forget its compatriots in the Balkans during Ramadan, the month of unity and solidarity. Kırcaali was the first address for the heartfelt dinners to be held in Bulgaria and Greece, where our compatriots live many kilometers beyond our border. Hundreds of people shared the blessings of Ramadan together at the heartfelt tables set in Kırcaali.

Bulgarian Grand Mufti Mustafa Aliş Hacı, Kırcaali Mayor Erol Mümün, Kırcaali Mufti Basri Eminefendi, Plovdiv Deputy Consul General Murat Polat, Sultangazi Municipality Mayor Advisor and Council Member Muhammer Varol and many of our compatriots attended the iftar program. As the adhan was recited, dozens of compatriots in the area enjoyed the happiness of having iftar together.

Grand Mufti of Bulgaria Mustafa Aliş Hacı; “Until 10-15 years ago, we could not have thought that we would experience something like this. Now, we are experiencing the blessings of Ramadan with our brothers and sisters, with a table of hearts set from miles away. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our Sultangazi Mayor, Abdurrahman Dursun,” he said.

Same heart, different geography

Sultangazi Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun said, “Based on the slogan of a Ramadan with family warmth, we wanted to show that we are with our brothers living in different geographies. Last year, we brought our iftar tables to the Balkans. This year, we wanted to be with our brothers and have iftar together with them. We said let’s share the blessings of Ramadan with our compatriots living there, in our own geography of heart. Have a nice Ramadan at the same table, in the same heart.” – ISTANBUL
