The death of the singer Shpat Kasapit, a message of condolence from the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has sent a consoling message to the family of Shpat Kasapi, the singer who died today after a cardiac arrest at the age of 40.

Kurti emphasizes that the escape of Shpat Kasapi was premature and hurts a lot. He further adds that the music he created united all Albanians and that his contribution will remain indelible.

Dear Kasapi family

“With a heavy heart, I accepted the news of Shpati’s death. Such a sudden and premature departure hurts a lot and comes as unfair. It also sounds untrue, he was so young and he carried and radiated all that energy.

His loss has affected us all, regardless of professions or generations. Many post-war generations have grown up with his image and emblematic songs. He has held a special place in everyone’s hearts as a hard-working, smiling, and above all, very charismatic boy. The artistic community has lost one of its most beloved figures, because everyone has only good words for Shpat. His music has managed to unite Albanians all over the world, but mostly it has united the Albanians of Kosovo and the Valley, North Macedonia and Albania. This contribution of his will always remain indelible.

Condolences to the entire Kasapi family, the artistic community, his friends and colleagues. Condolences to Mrs. Gjylymser, Mrs. Selvije and son Roel. God gave them the strength to face this loss”.

With deep respect,

Albin Kurti

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo
