Fifty-year-old psychiatrist Tálib Ahmad Muhsín, originally from Saudi Arabia, was arrested on Friday evening immediately after the crime. On Saturday, the judge remanded her to the maximum security prison in Burg, about 20 kilometers northeast of Magdeburg.
This correctional facility with a capacity for 931 prisoners covers an area of 49.5 thousand square meters. Its perimeter walls are 1.5 kilometers long.
According to the newspaper Bild, the attacker is kept in a strictly guarded room equipped with a video camera, which monitors him 24 hours a day, after a mandatory medical examination. The supervisors have continuous supervision over him and the possibility to intervene immediately if he tries to commit suicide.
Its probability is also tried to be reduced by the fact that Tálib Ahmad Muhsín is wearing only paper clothes, so that he does not try to take his own life with the help of fabric tsars.
He is completely isolated from the other prisoners, also due to fears that he will not become the target of their attack for what he has committed. Apart from the supervisors, he is in contact only with his lawyers. At the same time, under the supervision of several members of the judicial guard, he takes individual and regular walks around the prison yard.
Tálib Ahmad Muhsín came to Germany in 2006 and since 2020 has worked as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist at a clinic in Bernburg, Saxony-Anhalt. He also lived in this city.
In the past, in a dispute over the recognition of exams, he threatened representatives of the medical chamber with committing an act that would attract international attention. He was fined for that.
At the clinic, he had drug-addicted prisoners under his care, but now he faces suspicions that he was an addict himself, because one of the drug tests after the attack was positive.

Among his colleagues, he earned the nickname Doctor Google, because he often looked for professional information on the Internet before establishing a diagnosis. He allegedly avoided consultations with his colleagues as much as possible.
According to the newspaper Mitteldeutsche Zeitung, even some patients did not trust him and refused to treat them. Colleagues at the clinic had doubts whether Tálib Ahmad Muhsín was really a trained doctor.
