The Student Parliament of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” will organize a protest march today from the Student Center to “Skënderbeu” Square, in Prishtina. The march is expected to start at 11:30, while the students will march towards the center of the capital. The protest takes place as a sign of opposition to the verdict of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selim.
The student march comes as protests against the verdict have entered their fifth night. Last night, thousands of citizens gathered in “Skënderbeu” square, where they expressed their opposition to the decision. Family members and the sons of Thaçi, Vesel, Selim and Krasniqi also participated in last night’s protest (September 20). The rally started with the unfurling of a large national flag, where the emblem of the Kosovo Liberation Army was placed.
Protesters carried placards with the messages “Not in my name”, “There is no peace without justice” and “Freedom has a name”, while calls in support of the former leaders of the KLA were heard during the protest. The protests started on September 16, after the announcement of the verdict against Thaçi, Krasniqi, Vesel and Selim.
