Snow is falling on Europe, up to half a meter falls on the Czech mountains

ECMWF warns that it will start to snow heavily in central and southern Germany on Saturday morning. Within a few hours, up to 30 centimeters of snow can fall in the Hunsrück, Schwarzwald and Eifel highlands. It will also snow in the lowlands. At the same time as the amount of snow, temperatures will drop significantly.

According to the forecast, it should also snow on Sunday and Monday. For example, up to a meter of fresh snow could fall in the Harz Mountains. Flurries of snow should stop on Tuesday. Meterologists warn of traffic chaos, which may occur in connection with snow flurries, writes the website of the German weekly Focus.

Meteorologists expect a similar type of weather in the Czech Republic as well. “It should start snowing in the Czech Republic on Sunday and the snow should fall throughout the following week. It should snow the most in the mountains, where we expect about half a meter of snow to fall. In the lowest places, it will be five to six centimeters,” meteorologist Dagmar Honsová told Novinka.

But drivers will experience hell on the roads. The situation will be complicated by the wind. “Snow tongues and drifts will form, which will torment the driver. The temperatures will range from minus two to plus two degrees, but due to the wind, the temperature will correspond to minus five degrees,” said Honsová.

Switzerland and Austria are also expecting intense snowfall and cooling.
