“Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad are occupied. The enemy is actively moving his forces there, reinforcing the infantry in large numbers. Equipment, artillery, which has been deployed for a long time, especially on the southern edges of Myrnohrad and Pokrovsko, continues to operate on the contact line. Pilots who fully control all logistics are activated. They fully control the sky,” he said according to the Unian Pohorilyj agency.
According to him, the Russians are currently building a bridgehead in these cities so that they can continue deep into the Donetsk region and influence Ukrainian logistics.
Battlefield maps from the DeepState platform also now show the complete control of both cities by Russian forces, even though on May 17 they marked the northeastern edges of Pokrovskoe as a gray zone, a no-man’s land that is not fully controlled by either side.
According to Deep State analysts, the next target should be the city of Dobropillja.
Russia has repeatedly reported on the conquest of Pokrovsk. The Ministry of Defense announced its conquest at the beginning of last December and then again on December 28.
The Russian army launched a campaign to the city in February 2024 after capturing Avdijivka. It took her two years to overcome the forty-kilometer distance and conquer the once sixty-thousand-thousand city. It was only last summer that Russian troops began to penetrate the city, when the defense line in the south of the city failed to hold after airstrikes.
Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov already claimed at the beginning of December that the capture of Pokrovsk is key to occupying the rest of the Donetsk region. In a speech on December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the control of Pokrovsk offers the Russian troops the possibility of advancing in several directions.
