Parliamentary elections will be held in Hungary in April. Moscow supports Orbán in them, because he has long served as a valuable ally within NATO and the European Union. However, his Fidesz party lags behind the Tisza party led by former member of Orbán’s party Péter Magyar in pre-election polls, The Washington Post outlines the situation.

The last American presidential election can be used as proof that a staged assassination could help Orbán. Donald Trump’s preferences rose in July 2024 after he survived an assassination attempt at a meeting with voters, when a projectile fired only grazed his ear.
