Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti from Prekazi refused to comment on President Vjosa Osmani’s decision to dissolve the parliament, respecting the tribute ceremony in honor of the Jashari family on the 28th anniversary of the KLA Epic.
Meanwhile, earlier, Kurti’s adviser, Jeton Zulfaj emphasized that the Vetëvendosje Movement has fully respected the Constitution, as it nominated two candidates to run for president.
According to him, it was the opposition parties Democratic Party and Democratic League of Kosovo that refused to come up with their candidates.
So the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, supporting Osmani’s decree for the dissolution of the Assembly, although he stated that new elections were not an alternative for his party.
“Political failure, together with the dangerous tendencies of imposition and improvisation, cannot produce either artificial political debates or procedural delays that would transform our Republic into a country without norms and without rules. Unfortunately, the appetite for one party to capture all state positions prevented any compromise, Now the decision belongs to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo”said Abdzhiku.
According to PDK MP Vlora Çitaku, the unbridled ambition of the Vetëvendosje Movement to control all institutions is leading the country towards new elections.
“The address of responsibility is clear, the refusal of the LVV for agreement and for honest political dialogue. It has been fought long and hard for our citizens to have the right to choose their representatives and live freely. This freedom and this Republic do not dare to be wasted“, said Citaku.
Earlier, the ambassadors of the QUNIT countries were in the Government building, while President Vjosa Osmani announced the decree for the dissolution of the parliament.
