Osman in the US: Kosovo, regional model in the fight against terrorism and extremism

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani has reaffirmed Kosovo’s unwavering commitment in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism during a meeting of the Global Fund for Community Commitment and Sustainability (GCERF) in New York.

In her speech, Osmani described Kosovo as a regional model for dealing with these global challenges, emphasizing the country’s efforts to build early warning systems and the fight against online radicalization.

Invited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Johann Wadephul, President Osmani attended the next GCERF meeting, a platform where Kosovo has been a partner since 2017.

“At the invitation of Minister Wadephul, this week in New York I attended the GCERF meeting, where Kosovo is a partner country from 2017,” Osmani said, noting Kosovo’s active role in this international initiative.

In her speech, she stressed that Kosovo remains committed to preventing and combating terrorism and violent extremism.

The president underlined Kosovo’s successes in the field, describing it as an example for the region.

“From the construction of early warning systems to confronting online radicalization, Kosovo has become a model for the region – showing that through cooperation, sustainability and common values, even the greatest global challenges can be overcome,” she said.

President Osmani’s participation in this meeting comes at a time when international cooperation on the fight against terrorism and extremism is more important than ever.
