In an effort to create the new institutions of Kosovo and to end the almost two-year political crisis, the oldest deputy of the 11th legislature, Avni Dehari, called on September 9 the session for the constitution of the Assembly.
Dehari said that he took the decision after the agreement reached between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo, which he sees as good news for the country.
“Although there is still no complete clarity, if there is the necessary number of deputies for the constitution of all institutions, I have decided to call the continuation of the Constitutive session on September 9, at 11:00″- it is stated in the announcement published by the chairman of the session.
He called on the deputies to show readiness to fulfill their constitutional obligations until then.
“Kosovo does not need another delay, nor another crisis, and even less a new election process“- writes Dehari.
During August, the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo gathered twice for the constitution of the new legislature, but the sessions were postponed at the request of the head of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, who previously requested the achievement of a political agreement for the President.
Such a pact with the name of the candidate Bekim Sejdiu was reached between Kurti and the leader of LDK Abdixhiku, but 6 deputies of that party oppose it.
Since the beginning of August, the deputies of the other two parties, PDK and AAK, have insisted on maintaining the constitution of the Assembly, protesting every day in front of the government building and in the hall of plenary sessions.
