The ANO movement needs two votes for a majority in the council. A possible dual coalition of ANO and SPD would have a majority of 31 votes in the 55-member representative body of the Olomouc Region.
ANO representatives met after the elections on Sunday evening with the representatives of all political entities whose candidates were elected to the regional council. Negotiations continued in the following days.
“Since the election results were tallied, we have held several meetings with other electoral parties. Among other things, the victorious ANO movement approached us for negotiations. Its representatives offered us participation in a three-member coalition consisting of ANO, ODS and SPD. We clearly rejected this offer, which was unanimously confirmed by the ODS Regional Council in the Olomouc Region. We cannot exchange our principles for participation in the regional coalition, which is why we will continue to fight for our region from the opposition benches. They can also be made useful for the citizens of the region,” said Horák.
ANO leader and candidate for governor Ladislav Okleštěk announced on the X social network early Friday that the negotiations on the future composition of the regional coalition are not over. “We are still looking for a solution and I believe that it will be possible to establish a stable leadership of the Olomouc Region,” he said without further details.
The leaders of STAN and Spojenců24 announced their departure to the opposition on Monday. ANO can thus form a regional coalition only with representatives of the coalition SPD, Trikolora, PRO and Svobodní or the grouping Stačilo!.
