Photos and videos posted by residents on social networks show fires and explosions in several places throughout Moscow, including the refinery in the Kapotňa district. According to video analysis by the independent Russian monitoring channel Astra, at least five fires broke out in the area.
One of the videos captures the moment when a fuel tank lid flew off during a drone attack on a Moscow refinery. Emergency services are still working at the scene.
According to the Kyiv Independent, the attack hit the Moscow oil refinery for the second time in three days. The previous attack should have led to the stoppage of traffic, informs the Reuters agency. Because of the attack, air traffic at Moscow’s Vnukovo, Sheremetevo and Zhukovsky airports was also temporarily restricted.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed the attacks on the Russian capital. “This is a completely justified response to Russian attacks on our cities and towns and another significant result of the work of our soldiers against objects that supply the Russian war machine,” he wrote on the networks.
Zelenskyj already promised severe retribution on Monday during an inspection of the damage in the famous Kyiv Monastery. He assured that Ukraine will respond to the massive Russian attack on the capital. During the weekend, at least five people lost their lives in Ukraine and almost four dozen others were injured.
“We will answer this,” he said laconically when asked what he would say to Russian President Vladimir Putin after this attack.

According to the mayor of the metropolis, Sergey Sobyanin, more than 180 drones heading for the city were shot down and a shopping center on the outskirts of Moscow was damaged. He stated this on the Telegram network. The attack also hit a residential complex in Kotělniky on the southeastern edge of Moscow.
In recent months, Ukraine has intensified its strikes against military, industrial and energy targets on Russian territory, with drones repeatedly striking Moscow and other regions hundreds of kilometers from Ukraine’s borders.
