“The attack by enemy drones on Moscow was the most extensive in the last two years,” wrote the TASS agency, without mentioning why it chose this particular time. At the beginning of the Russian invasion, Ukraine did not undertake large-scale drone attacks on Moscow and its surroundings.

“The rapid evacuation of passengers to safe areas was ensured at Sheremetyevo airport. The evacuation also took place from airplanes,” added the agency. According to the Russian-language Telegram channel Shot, at least 527 flights were canceled in the Moscow region, when traffic at Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports was also paralyzed.

“Several drones managed to reach the Moscow oil refinery. Measures are being taken to mitigate the consequences,” Sobyanin also reported on Telegram.

Videos appeared on social networks showing a huge fire after the explosion, which also threw the roof of the facility into the air, as well as clouds of smoke coming from several places. After Tuesday, this is the second attack on this refinery in one week. The oil infrastructure is generally one of the main targets of Ukrainian counterattacks, the lack of fuel is already felt by ordinary Russians in various places in the country.

In addition to the area of ​​the refinery in the Kapotňa industrial district, the current air attack also affected other municipalities in the Moscow region. “Drone attacks in the Moscow region injured 16 people, including two children aged 10 and 3. All are under medical supervision, according to Governor Andrei Vorobyov,” wrote TASS.

“In the village of Stěpanovo near Elektrostal, the debris of a downed drone damaged the roof of a family house. The woman suffered a slight shoulder injury, but refused hospitalization,” the agency described one of the cases, noting that another hit to an apartment building in the town of Zhukovsky was uninjured, but required the evacuation of residents.

According to the Russian authorities, the wreckage of the drone also caused a car fire in the city of Elektrostal and also damaged the roof of a shopping center in the city of Ljubercy.

Recently, Kyiv has been intensifying air attacks deep into Russian territory in an attempt to make it more difficult for Russia to continue its invasion war against Ukraine, which it has been waging since 2022.
