The ‘Memories from Roots to the Future Exhibition’ opened by the Loyalty to the Balkans Association in Eskişehir attracted attention.
The opening ceremony, which took place in a shopping center, was held with the participation of Tepebaşı District Governor Saadettin Yücel. The exhibition, which opened with a ribbon cutting, was appreciated by the visitors. The exhibition included photographs from old years.
“We continue to keep our traditions alive”
Şaban Hocaoğlu, President of the Loyalty to the Balkans Association, said, “When we look at our ancestors from the past, that is, our past; who are we, where and how did we come? The influx of our ancestors to the Balkans begins with Süleyman Pasha in 1353. Süleyman Pasha’s grave is in Gallipoli. He takes the first step to Rumelia by passing through the Dardanelles; but later he falls off his horse and becomes a martyr with his horse. His grave is located in Gallipoli. That’s when it all started. In the late 1300s and early 1400s, in line with the settlement policy, our ancestors settled in the Balkans and made the Balkans their home. Our ancestors lived in the Balkans for 600 years. Finally, we returned to our homeland, but we never severed our ties with the Balkans. “We kept our traditions, religion and language alive, and we continue to keep them alive,” he said. – ESKİŞEHİR
