In addition to the election of Medvěděv, Rostelecom created four new committees in the board of directors: for strategy, company management, personnel and audit, the letter says.
Medvěděv is one of 11 new members of the board who were proposed for the position in September. In addition to the Russian ex-president, the president of Rostelecom Mikhail Osejevsky or the head of the state-controlled Russian bank VTB Andrej Kostin will also sit on the board of directors.
This will not be Medvěděv’s first engagement in such a position. Already in the years 2000–2001 and 2002–2008, he held the position of chairman of the board of Gazprom, which he left after his election as the Russian president.
Since then, he has not appeared on the board. Since 2020, he has been acting as deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, whose head is former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
