The Poles have responded robustly to the invasion of illegal migrants with pepper spray and batons.

Poland, for example, has been accusing Belarus and Russia of waging a “hybrid war” against EU countries by consistently supporting migration pressure for several years.
Despite the fact that Poland’s eastern border is guarded by thousands of members of the security forces, a barrier was created there, and the government renewed a no-entry zone on part of the border with Belarus, the number of attempts to illegally cross the border from Belarus was higher last year than the previous year. By November 2024 alone, there were almost 30,000 of them, and for the whole year 2023, about 26,000.
Attempts to cross the border illegally are often accompanied by violent clashes, last June a 21-year-old Polish soldier died after being stabbed by one of the migrants over the fence from the Belarusian side.
