Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has stated that after the end of the process of counting and certifying the election results, the priority of the institutions will be the constitution of the new legislature as soon as possible.
According to him, the election of the country’s president cannot be achieved without the cooperation of the opposition parties.
“The process of counting all the votes is being completed and we have to wait a few more days. After the certification, our aim is to move without wasting time to the stage of constitution of the institutions of the 11th legislature. The sooner possible, the better“, he said.
Regarding the election of the president, Kurti estimated that a wider political consensus is needed, recalling that according to the current constitutional interpretation, the presence of at least 80 deputies in the hall is required to ensure the necessary quorum.
He reiterated that the Vetëvendosje Movement does not have enough votes to complete this process alone and that cooperation with the opposition, according to him, remains necessary.
“We will try to build as much cooperation as possible with the opposition on the issue of electing the president or president”Kurt said.
Also, the acting Prime Minister said that even in the past his party has made concrete offers for cooperation, but according to him they have been rejected by the opposition parties.
