Kurti: Belgrade is exerting great pressure on the Serbs of Kosovo

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has strongly denounced the intense pressure and blackmail that official Belgrade is exerting on the Serbian community in Kosovo.

During a media conference, Kurti described the situation as alarming, based on the direct complaints of the local Serbian citizens themselves.

According to the head of government, Serbia is using brutal coercive mechanisms to force Kosovo Serbs to exclusively support the Serbian List, eliminating any political pluralism.

Kurti also referred to the statements of the Minister for Communities and Returns, confirming the high degree of control being exercised by Serbia, including digital surveillance.

I believe that the speech of the Minister for Communities and Return at the last meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo on the terrible pressure that is being put on the Serbs of Kosovo from Belgrade, that they should definitely vote for the Serbian List and no one else, and the measures that Serbia is taking by following the social networks of every state official, every public figure, every Serbian politician who has ever competed, are really alarming.“, he said.

According to him, this phenomenon has taken on large and deep dimensions in recent years and that the pressure from Belgrade has not been greater than now during his mandate as prime minister.

This kind of terror that Belgrade is making official on the Kosovo Serbs, we have witnessed from the complaints of the Kosovo Serbs themselves. This is a phenomenon which has taken on large and deep dimensions like never before in these years since I have been prime minister.

So, there has never been so much pressure from Belgrade, threats, intimidation, blackmail, cutting off various financial means or whatever support they have ever received from Serbia, with the condition that they line up, almost like an army in time of war, in the ranks of the Serbian List”. he added.

Kurti also said that Serbia aims to create state dualism within the territory of Kosovo.

On the other hand, you know that Serbia constantly tries to have its elements, through which it wants to create state dualisms within the territory of our Republic, in terms of the functioning of institutions, in terms of public services, and of course they are illegal actions in our independent state”. he declared.
