Kurti announces the Inflation Package: 200 million euros for citizens and public transport

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during the Assembly session where the increase in oil prices was being discussed, warned that the government will bring a new package to deal with inflation.

He said that this package, called “Inflation 2.0”, will have a value of 200 million euros.

“We are preparing the Inflation Package 2.0 in the amount of 200 million euros, this is how we deal with inflation,” declared Kurti.

The Prime Minister emphasized that support will also be extended to urban and interurban public transport, considering this as an important measure for citizens in challenging times.

“In this challenging time, oil and energy prices are constantly fluctuating and it is easy to look for quick solutions. But our task is not to find the easiest way, but to choose the right, most beneficial and most sustainable way for our country,” said Kurti.

According to the media in Kosovo, Kurti emphasized that the most dramatic effects of the global crisis have not yet been felt in the country, as there has been no supply restriction and no loss of derivatives. He added that requests to reduce VAT and excise duty on oil are repeated in every crisis, but according to him, this does not bring a real effect on other products.

“At first glance, this looks like a simple and quick solution, but in reality it is a constitutional solution. Even if the VAT is reduced, it has no effect on other products,” said Kurti.
