Kurti after counting the votes: Let’s behave in relation to the civic will of the majority on June 7

After Albin Kurti received the trust of over 324,000 citizens in the June 7 elections and his party was confirmed as the first political force, the acting Prime Minister of Kosovo called on the electoral subjects to respect the victory achieved by the Vetëvendosje Movement.

The result of the June 7 elections showed that we did not need new elections, because the result has not changed that much from the previous elections. It is time to act in accordance with the will of the citizens expressed in the elections. How SELF-DETERMINATION! we have been reconfirmed as the first party, with 53 MPs, and now we are waiting for the certification of the election results in order to start work on the formation of new institutions, to continue the good works and development projects. We have lost a lot of time since last year and it is vital to have a constituted Assembly, a government with a full mandate and an elected president as soon as possible..” – said Albin Kurti, Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo.

According to the preliminary results of the CEC, the Self-determination Movement secured 53 seats, the Democratic Party of Kosovo 22 deputies, the Democratic League of Kosovo 18 seats and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo 7 seats in the new Assembly, while 20 seats are guaranteed for minority communities.

Kosovo held early parliamentary elections, after the political parties did not reach an agreement on the election of the new president.
