Kosovo still without a government, Kurti proposes Glauk Konjufca for prime minister

The chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has proposed the vice-chairman of the party, Glauk Konjufca, as the second candidate for Prime Minister of Kosovo.

This proposal was made during the meeting of the General Council of the LVV, one day before the expiry of the 10-day deadline of the president Vjosa Osmani to give someone the mandate for the formation of the new Government or to announce new elections.

Kurti said that the proposal is made because of the great faith he has for Konjufca, but also to avoid new elections.

“I take Glauku’s place, and he mine, as we agreed together last night. The appointment of the second representative in these circumstances is a necessity. Let the opposition vote for a government led by Glauku”, Kurti said.

Kurti said that the LVV is constantly growing at the local level, winning more and more municipalities and assembly members during the last elections. However, Kurti has not achieved the support of the 61 necessary deputies in the Assembly of Kosovo to form the government.

“This is an indication that our organization is becoming a more serious alternative and is finding the support of the citizens even where it feels closest, in the municipalities. From one municipality won in 2013, which was the capital, to three municipalities in 2017, to four municipalities in 2021, now in 2025 with three municipalities won without a runoff and another 12 municipalities in a runoff and very close to victory. From 69 assembly members won in the elections 2013, to 127 in 2017, 176 in 2021 and 177 in 2025. This is the continuous growth of LVV at the local level”, said Kurti.

He called for the opposition to vote for the government led by Konjufca, to proceed with the state budget from a full-power government.
